Assignment #6 Mini projects

Subject 1:

• Female

• Age: 23

• Appearance: small-boned, tallish, lifeless eyes, pony-tail 

• Dress: an ill-fitting cowboy suit, old black sneakers 

• Family: has a brother who is good at school (24 years old, studies in mainland China); her parents run a small restaurant in ShenZhen province; father is a cook who loves drinking; mother is an uneducated waitress

• Family income: total of about HK$25,000/month (restaurant)

• Education: master of teaching in EdUHK 

• Marital status: unmarried, has been single for a long time 

• Residence: shares a cramped three-room flat in Tai Wai (HK$20,000/month/four)

• Hobbies: watching movies or TV programs (mostly comedies or variety shows); painting (unprofessional, just doodle some strange patterns, lines or faces)

• Current occupation: student 

• Current income: no income, only monthly living expenses (HK$500/ month) 

• Employment history: Summer part-time(Educational institutions as teaching assistants)80rmb/day

• Health: no serious illness but many annoying minor illnesses; frequent stomachaches( Irregular schedule), frequent insomnia, poor eyesight, intermittent migraine

Summary: This subject’s family has a traditional patriarchal mind. The focus of the parents is on the brother, and she is always ignored. She spent a lot of effort to study in Hong Kong, but everything seemed to be unsatisfactory. She was out of touch with her shared roommates (the roommates walked together, and she was avoiding to meet them), felt lonely at home, and remained unchanged in HK. These may cause some mental illness and maybe disappointing in life.

Subject 2:

• Female

• Age: 39 

• Appearance: twinkling, puppy-dog eyes, a sharp nose, delicate fingers, long legs, well-proportioned, cape

• Dress: slim-fit dark suit, Chelsea low-top boots, designer boutique brand bag

• Family:has 7 years old boy who studies in a good kindergarten; has a gentle husband who works at the senior level of foreign companies and loves her very much

• Education: Doctor of Letters in CUHK, a popular professor among students

• Hobbies: reading (mainly poetry and foreign literature); hiking (Somewhere she can keep fit but not get too tired ) 

• Employment: has worked for college almost seven years; has been to the UK as a visiting scholar

• Family residence: Medium room apartment in Festival City

• Family income: total of about HK$2 million /year (she and her husband)

• Health: generally good, sometimes a sore throat

Summary: The subject has a really happy family. She and her husband met and loved each other in college. After graduating, she continued to pursue a doctorate and now she is a professor. Her husband chose to work and had good career achievements. She has a very regular life and a high degree of self-discipline. Her husband understands her well and will not ask her to give up work for the family so that she can have a good balance between family and work. In the future, she may choose to focus on her family, but that is also her happy choice.
